Halloween is one of the most fun holidays that Americans celebrate. I mean, it's like an actors and photographers paradise! All the world's a stage (literally in Tampa, we have whole parades to celebrate dressing up) and all you see are characters everywhere. But to me, the best BEST BEST part about Halloween is the day after. HALLOWEEN STORES ARE HAULING BUTT and are practically giving away makeup, props, and costumes so that they can leave on time! I love getting little odds and ends that are typically a little difficult to find like wig caps, spirit gums, latex, gallons of fake blood and the like. But this year, I found the most awesome masks and the second I saw them, I needed to make a photoshoot with them. Typically done with makeup nowadays, i thought that the actual masks were just so clean and well done that it wouldn't take away from the intrigue...
SUGAR SKULL MASKS!!! I'm always so entranced by the artistry that goes into the make up and into all of the items used to celebrate the Day of the Dead. As morbid as it may seem, this joyous celebration is always filled with masks, makeup, candy and treats that are all hand crafted with the utmost precision and they're always beautiful. And now I have a guy and girl of my own!!! Paper mache and hand painted. Are they cute? Who's interested in wearing a few sugar skull masks for some weird ideas later on?
